With flaring top rail and supports, the upper panels depicting a courtesan walking with an attendant followed on the left panel by a laughing monk carrying a 'memento mori' skull, inlaid in ivory, hardwood and mother-of-pearl with gilt hiramaki-e, takamaki-e, togidashi and kirikane accents, further lacquer decoration on the scattered fans of the lower reticulated panels and defining the animal and floral roundels on the surrounding nashiji framework, the reverse with sabi oki Tsugaru nuri, the frame members decorated with inlaid wire bands of squared scrolls.
