A gilt lacquer four-case inro

By Shokyosai, Late 19th Century
The lenticular kinji lacquer body decorated with a rooster perched on the drum of the legendary Chinese Emperor Yao near a meandering stream and pine extending to the opposite side with three chicks and a hen, executed in gold, silver and iro-e hiramaki-e, takamaki-e, togidashi and usu-nashiji with occasional hirame accents, signed Shokyosai, the interiors nashiji.
