A group of fifteen miniature wood masks

Deme School, Meiji/Taisho Period
Each depicting a character from Gigaku, No or Kyogen drama, the delicately carved features picked out with colored pigment, two with cord or horsehair embellishments, twelve identified by inscription to the reverse, each with a wood-burned signature; together with fifteen individual gilt saga nishiki brocade bags (eleven applied with paper identification labels), and a black lacquer document box decorated on the lid with a gilt hiramaki-e chrysanthemum blossom on a roiro ground.
