Fan painting, ink on paper, mounted as a hanging scroll; depicting a leafless tree next to a narrow, meandering stream, with a Chinese-style poem in four lines of cursive sosho script to the right, signed Soseki with seals Soseki and another; together with a double wooden tomobako, an authentication by Soseki scholar Matsuoka Yuzuru (b. 1891) to the lid interior.
