The Four Seasons

Handscroll, ink and color on paper; comprising a series of delicately painted landscapes and other natural imagery through the four seasons, ending with a marketplace teeming with New Year's preparations, and a scene of travelers seeking shelter at night, in themes taken from the 'Four Seasons' chapter of the fourteenth century Tsurezure-gusa (Essays in Idleness), by Yoshida Kenko; signed Korenobu with seal Yosen; together with a wooden tomobako.
