A painted ivory snuff bottle

Late Qing/Republic Period
Probably made in Japan for the Chinese market, carved in the shape of a boy holding a lotus branch in one hand, a handled vase in the other, his flower petal-decorated hat forming the stopper; some details heightened with gilt and polychrome pigment; the base bearing Qianlong nian zhi mark.
