A white jade carving of a duck

18th Century
Standing at momentary rest and turning its head backward as it grasps in its beak a deeply undercut millet branch, the heads of grain and feathers all delicately line-incised for detail and the bird's body still retaining some of the curving contours of the original boulder, the celadon-tinged matrix also displaying some icy white inclusions, natural fissure lines and faint russet patches.
4 3/4in (12cm) long
