A Bow figure of a Levantine Lady

Circa 1756.
Wearing a high pink headdress, white coat over a long yellow gown, delicately painted in red with a scrolling pattern and pink pantaloons, modelled seated holding an upturned shell supported by coral encrusted with smaller shells, the interior with a floral spray within scattered blooms, 14cm high (restoration to her left hand, edge of coat and one foot)

Footnotes

Peter Bradshaw, Bow Porcelain Figures (1992), p 135, figs 119 and 120, illustrates the figure and companion. For another example see Frank Stoner, Chelsea, Bow and Derby Porcelain Figures (1955), pl 75. The shell on this example appears to be a more unusual variation
