A rare Spode and Copeland pearlware Toby Jug

Circa 1811-15.
Of traditional form, wearing a brown tricorn hat, bright yellow coat, blue breeches and striped waistcoat, holding a foaming jug on his knee painted with a flower spray, upon a rectangular black line base with canted corners, 26cm high, the back inscribed 'Spode & Copeland' (small chip to hat and chip to tip of jug in his hands, some fine cracks to the underside of the base)

Footnotes

This jug is inscribed with a rare mark for the partnership of William Copeland and Josiah Spode II. Their London business traded under this name from circa 1797 to 1816
