Footnotes
Whilst the cup is undoubtedly of Nantgarw porcelain, the stand does not conform to the Nantgarw model. This suggests that the London decorator chose a Nantgarw cup and suitable English saucer and painted them to match. For two cups of similar shape, see Roland Williams, Nantgarw Porcelain 1813-1822, figs 75 and 76. See also W D John, Nantgarw Album, Illustration 8, 72 (bottom right) and Illustration 36. A similar shape of cabinet cup with a similar handle form was also made at Swansea. See Lot 247 in this sale.
