Circa 1820.
The square pin tray with a lobed and delicately pierced gallery, the exterior picked out in blue enamel and painted with a butterfly at each corner, the interior painted in the style of William Pollard with strawberries and flowers, 9.2cm wide, printed Society of Arts mark (some very slight wear to the gilding), the saucer and interior of the cup similarly painted in Pollard style, within elaborate gilded borders, saucer 14.7cm diam (saucer with patch of wear to gilding) (3)

William Pollard did not work at Coalport but the printed mark on the pin tray proves that the decoration was applied at the factory. The decoration would appear to be the work of a so far unidentified hand, perhaps a former Swansea painter who moved to Coalport.
