A Minton Majolica game pie dish with fixed stand, liner and cover

Dated 1876.
Of oval form modelled as a tree stump, the finial as two toadstools amongst flowers and leaves, the ground modelled with growth rings, the tureen's handles as foxes' heads, watching four ducks moulded in relief waddling among ferns and ivy upon a ground simulating tree bark, the interior with turquoise glaze, 39cm wide, impressed MINTON, shape number 2062 and year cipher (the tureen and liner restored to both ends, restoration to foxes' ears, minor chips to edge of stand) (3)

The Minton factory Shape Book lists the number 2062 as 'Mushroom Game Pie Dish'. Another example without the liner was sold in these rooms 10 September 2008, lot 362
