Footnotes
Peter Bradshaw, 18th Century English Porcelain Figures (1981), p 251, pl 151, illustrates a set of the 'Rustic Seasons' painted in colours. This set of Seasons resemble the Chelsea-Derby models of the 'French Seasons' and were thought, like the Bristol 'Classical Seasons' to be by the Derby modeller Pierre Stephan. The 'To' mark for John Toulouse is found on Worcester porcelain from the early 1770s although it remains unclear when he moved to Bristol and for how long
