A Brass-Barrelled Flintlock Blunderbuss
By William Nicholson, No. 45 Cornhill, London, Circa 1790

With two-stage barrel turned and belled at the muzzle, fitted with side-mounted ramrod and with spring bayonet beneath, the bayonet released by a catch on the finial in front of the trigger-guard, octagonal breech engraved with maker's address along the top flat, engraved tang, signed border engraved flat bevelled lock with safety-catch and large roller, figured half-stock (minor splits), border engraved brass mounts comprising butt-plate decorated with a foliate oval on the heel, trigger-guard with a flower-head on the bow, brass fore-end plate, and original horn-tipped ramrod (minor surface patination), London proof marks and barrelsmith's mark RW
