An Irish Brass-Barrelled Percussion Blunderbuss
By Robert Tomlinson, Dublin, Late 18th Century

Converted from flintlock, the barrel with reinforcing ring behind the belled and turned muzzle and stamped with Co. Down registration mark 'D-N 5131' at the breech, plain tang, signed flat bevelled lock with foliate scroll engraved hammer, figured full stock (repaired along one side of the fore-end, minor chips beneath the lock), brass mounts comprising shaped flat side-plate, butt-plate with Co. Down registration mark on the heel tang, trigger-guard, turned ramrod-pipes, and later brass-tipped ramrod (iron parts rust patinated), Dublin proof marks and maker's mark
