A 16-Bore Flintlock Sporting Gun
By Harcourt, Possibly John Of Ipswich, Early 19th Century

With rebrowned two-stage twist sighted barrel with octagonal breech and silver fore-sight, the former stamped 'Narrow Twisted' beneath, case-hardened breech (replaced during the gun's working life) with gold oval, line and touch-hole, tang engraved with foliage involving a Britannia shield and with a gundog and bird in a landscape, signed border engraved flat lock decorated with a similar scene on the tail and with a starburst behind the rainproof pan (steel refaced), roller, figured half-stock with chequered grip and raised cheekpiece (butt extended), engraved steel mounts comprising butt-plate (engraving worn) and scroll trigger-guard, the latter with a gundog and gamebird in a landscape on the bow, trigger-plate with pineapple finial, vacant silver escutcheon and barrel-bolt escutcheons, silver fore-end cap, and brass-mounted ramrod (steel parts with some rust patination), London proof marks
