A 22-Bore Flintlock Sporting Gun
By Ketland & Co., Late 18th Century

With slightly shortened browned Spanish barrel with raised lines over its entire length, the breech struck with a cross mark surmounted by five small foliate marks, plain tang, signed flat bevelled lock (action defective, some pitting) engraved with a starburst on the stepped tail and with roller, figured half-stock carved with foliage behind the barrel tang and on either side of the raised cheekpiece, chequered grip with small projection beneath, engraved brass mounts comprising shaped side-nail plates, butt-plate and trigger-guard, long brass ramrod-pipes, horn fore-end cap, and later military ramrod (some wear overall)
