With rebrowned twist sighted barrel signed in full at the breech, recessed breech engraved with scrolling foliage, tang engraved with scrolling foliage, signed border engraved flat detented lock decorated with a spaniel and scrolling foliage on the tail, hammer (spur repaired) engraved en suite, figured half-stock with chequered grip and fore-end, the latter with dark horn tip, the butt inlaid on one side with a large silver oval engraved with owner's initials 'JWP' within a foliate border, steel mounts comprising butt-plate engraved with scrolling foliage on the tang, and recoloured trigger-guard with chequered spur and a gundog and gamebirds on the bow, trigger-plate with foliate scroll engraved pineapple-shaped finial, and vacant shield-shaped silver escutcheon, Birmingham proof marks
