A Colt 1851 Model Navy Percussion Revolver
No. 21191 For 1853

With nickel-plated sighted barrel with New-York address, nickel-plated serial numbered cylinder originally with roll engraved naval engagement scene, nickel-plated frame, rammer, trigger-guard and back-strap, figured rounded grips, and matching numbers (nickelled finish later)

Footnotes

The serial number indicates that this revolver was issued to the 1st Massachusetts Volunteer Cavalry during the American Civil War. The regiment saw action at Gettysburg as part of the 1st Brigade, 2nd Division Cavalry Corps
