A Cased .41 Colt 'Thuer' Third Model Rim-Fire Deringer
No. 968, Circa 1870-90

With blued sighted barrel (some surface rust patination) engraved '-Colt-' and pivoting to the right for loading, silvered action and butt, blued spur trigger, figured bird's head grips, and much of its original finish: in original leather-covered case fitted and lined in blue velvet, the interior of the lid lined in blue silk and stamped in gilt letters 'Colt's Fire Arms Co., 14 Pall Mall, London S.W.' within gilt ovals, the exterior with vacant white-metal escutcheon centred on tooled line borders, London proof marks
