A .52 Sharps 1853 Model Breech-Loading Percussion Carbine
Retailed By Deane, Adams & Deane, London, No. 10261, Circa 1854-57

With russet sighted barrel rifled with six grooves, retained by a single brass barrel band and engraved with retailer's details in front of the folding adjustable back sight, serial numbered tang, slanting breech, back-action lock stamped 'Sharps Patent 1852', figured butt (broken through at the grip) and fore-end, brass mounts comprising curved butt-plate and hinged rectangular patch-box cover, hinged trigger-lever (locking-catch missing), and slender saddle-bar (steel parts with surface rust patination, some wear overall)
