With earlier Italian three-stage sighted barrel (light pitting overall), octagonal breech polygonal beyond and stamped 'Francesco Francino' along the top flat, plain tang, signed flat bevelled lock (jaw crew replaced), moulded figured full stock carved with foliage behind the rear ramrod-pipe and barrel tang, cast and chased mounts comprising pierced foliate side-plate centred on a portrait medallion and involving a monster, vacant foliate escutcheon, pommel-cap with grotesque mask and foliage, foliate D-shaped trigger-guard with foliate finial, turned and faceted ramrod-pipes, and original horn-tipped ramrod, Amsterdam town mark
