A Continental 25-Bore Flintlock Pistol, And A Continental 40-Bore Percussion Pistol
Both Late 18th Century, Probably German

The first with slightly swamped sighted barrel with sighting flat over much of its length and chiselled with a rocaille at the breech, chiselled tang, rounded lock engraved with foliage on the tail and with safety-stud behind the cock, moulded figured full stock (broken through and repaired at the lock) carved with foliage behind the barrel tang, flattened butt, foliate engraved iron mounts comprising shaped side-nail plates, spurred pommel with ovoidal cap, trigger-guard with finial chiselled and engraved with foliage and rocailles, rear ramrod-pipe en suite, and dark horn fore-end cap (iron parts with some pitting, one ramrod-pipe and ramrod missing); the second converted from flintlock, with two-stage sighted barrel, rounded lock, moulded figured full stock (fore-end reduced) carved with a flower behind the tang, flattened butt, foliate engraved brass mounts similar to the last, and horn-tipped ramrod (minor rust patination) (2)
