A Pair Of Bavarian 40-Bore Percussion Holster Pistols
By Johann Christoph Kuchenreiter, Late 18th Century

Converted from flintlock, with bright barrels each signed in silver along the sighting flat and inlaid with silver strapwork along the forward section to the muzzle and at the breech, the latter each with circular copper-lined maker's mark (Neue Støckel 640), tangs numbered '1' and '2' and each carrying two folding leaf back-sights, signed rounded locks, moulded figured full stocks each carved with flowering foliage behind the barrel tang, flattened chequered butts, plain iron mounts comprising shaped flat side-plates, spurred pommels each with rounded cap, trigger-guard with shaped finials, shaped vacant escutcheons, set triggers, horn fore-end caps, and horn-tipped ramrods, possibly original (2)
