With two-stage sighted barrel turned at the girdle, long octagonal breech carrying the back-sight, plain tang, rectangular pan with 'X' between dots, flash-shield, and hand-operated swivelling cover, long rectangular flat lock with match-holder as a stylised monster's head and wing-screw for setting the position of the match, lightly figured beechwood full stock with narrow paddle-shaped butt (old split on one side) indented for the thumb, plain iron mounts comprising thin butt-plate held by tacks, large trigger-guard, iron fore-end bands, one also forming the ramrod-pipe, and iron-tipped ramrod
