A Prussian 20-Bore Percussion Military Rifle
No. 157, Mid-19th Century

With octagonal sighted barrel rifled with eight grooves and originally fitted with a bayonet mount on the right side at the muzzle, folding leaf back-sight, tang stamped with crowned marks and numbered '233.4.C.', flat bevelled lock struck with a 'B' mark and fitted with sprung nipple-protector, figured full stock (some bruising, fore-end repaired along one side), butt with cheekpiece on the left and carved sliding patch-box cover on the right, the latter with paper label on the inside giving handwritten details in German regarding the rifle's calibre and range, regulation brass mounts comprising shaped side-plate, serial numbered butt-plate and spur trigger-guard, set trigger, sling loop, and original steel ramrod (some wear and surface patination, fore-end cap missing)
