A Pikeman's Breast-Plate
Mid-17th Century

Of steel, with low medial ridge drawn out to a blunt point at the base and with flanged skirt beneath, the front engraved with converging triple lines either side of the ridge and with double lines following the borders, struck with numerous marks on the inside, fitted with locking-pins for shoulder-straps (those for the tassets missing), and with turned and roped edges at the neck and arms bordered by dome-headed brass rivets
