A Caucasian Riding Crop
Late 19th/Early 20th Century

With long slender shaft of circular section with deep silver-gilt top and bottom mounts each embossed, chased and nielloed with foliage, arabesques and crescents against a punched ground, the former with nielloed Arabic inscription at the top, probably the maker's name, and with silver mount on one side decorated en suite and carrying the plaited leather whip with tab terminal, the latter pierced for a thong and with compressed spherical terminal chased with owner's initial against a punched ground, the mid-section covered in purple velvet (worn) spirally bound with a nielloed parcel-gilt strap, and retaining most of its gilding
