A German Sword Of Justice Or Executioner's Sword
The Blade Probably 17th Century, The Hilt 18th Century

With broad double-edged blade (some pitting and rust patination) of flat slightly ovoidal section pierced with three holes at the rebated point, one side towards the forte with copper-inlaid Wheel of Justice, gilt-brass hilt comprising flat rectangular quillon-block with punched decoration along each side and straight quillons of tapering octagonal section with small button terminals, large urn-shaped pommel of circular section incised with a cross against a punched ground on top beneath a button finial, and leather-covered grip bound with twisted brass wire
