An English Basket-Hilted Broadsword
Mid-17th Century

With later tapering double-edged blade etched 'Andrea Ferara' within the central fuller on each side at the forte, iron 'Irish' guard of swelling rounded bars and involving a shaped saltire on each side with incised double line borders, slender fore-guards, short wrist-guard, bun-shaped pommel cut with flutes between lines, and associated turned hardwood grip (split, some rust patination overall)
