A Scottish Basket-Hilted Broadsword
Second Quarter Of The 18th Century

With double-edged blade (pitted) cut with three narrow fullers over nearly all its entire length on each side and retaining traces of 'Andrea Ferara' inscriptions within each fuller at the forte, iron guard (pitted) of slender rectangular bars framing an S-shaped bar set sideways on both sides above a 'ram's horn', and with fretted incised panels (two repaired) pierced with triangles and circles, fore-guards (wrist-guard missing), fluted bun-shaped pommel, spirally-grooved vellum-covered grip bound with twisted wire, and remains of a leather liner (damaged)
