A Scottish Basket-Hilted Backsword
Second Quarter Of The 18th Century

With tapering blade double-edged towards the point and fullered over its entire length on each side with a narrow fuller bordering it along the back, iron guard of similar form to the last with more robust bars of circular section (one incomplete) and with an oval aperture for the reins on one side, fore-guards, fluted bun-shaped pommel with prominent button, and fishskin-covered grip spirally-bound with twisted copper wire (some pitting overall)
