A Scottish Officer's Basket-Hilted Broadsword
Late 18th/19th Century

With fullered double-edged blade, iron basket-guard hilt of regulation type of narrow circular bars framing incised and fluted panels with bevelled edges and arrangements of heart-shaped and circular piercings, waved fore-guards, fluted scrolled wrist-guard, fluted bun-shaped pommel with separate button, and wooden grip bound with twisted iron wire (surface rust as a result of fire overall)
