A Composite Scottish Basket-Hilted Broadsword
Early 18th Century

With double-edged blade cut with double central fuller over most of its length on each side, the fullers each stamped with letters and circles at the forte, iron guard of slender rounded bars framing saltires and ovoidal panels (one incomplete) pierced with hearts and small circles within double incised lines, fore-guards, separate riveted scrolled wrist-guard, bun-shaped pommel drilled with three lines of circles, and later turned wooden grip (worn and pitted overall); together with a detached back-sword blade cut with a fuller along its back for most of its length on each side (some pitting overall), and twelve assorted scabbards (some incomplete) (14)
