A Scottish Basket-Hilted Broadsword
Second Quarter Of The 18th Century

With tapering double-edged blade stamped 'Andrea Ferara' within the narrow central fullers on each side of the forte, the forte struck with a saltire mark on each side, iron guard of flattened bars framing fretted incised panels pierced with hearts and circles, and with an oval aperture for the reins, fore-guards, small scrolled wrist-guard, fluted conical pommel, and later spirally-grooved wooden grip covered in brown velvet (some wear and rust patination overall)
