A Scottish Infantry Sergeant's Basket-Hilted Broadsword
Circa 1796-1830

With tapering double-edged blade (minor pitting) with short ricasso and central fuller along each side of the forte, brass hilt retaining traces of original gilding and comprising guard of slender rounded bars framing plain panels (one with minor damage and repairs), slender fore-guards and flat rear quillon, bun-shaped pommel with button, spirally-grooved wire-bound leather-covered grip, and original leather liner (silk facing missing, some wear overall)
