A Silver-Hilted Small-Sword
Mid-18th Century, Maker's Mark G.W.

With colichemarde blade of sharply tapering hollow triangular section etched with foliated strapwork framing a labelled bird on one side and with scrolling foliage on the other (etching worn), hilt of characteristic form (rear quillon missing) cast and chased overall with reclining naked figures, demi-figures and masks, all beneath drapes and framed by foliage, and grip bound with silver ribbon and twisted silver wire (somewhat loose)
