The first with sharply tapering blade (worn) of flattened hexagonal section, characteristic hilt pierced and chiselled with foliate scrollwork overall, the double shell-guard (damaged on one side), swelling quillon-block and globular pommel each finely pierced and chiselled with foliated scrollwork, and associated grip bound with twisted copper wire; the second with sharply tapering blade of diamond section etched with indistinct letters between 'X' marks within the fuller on each side of the forte, the hilt decorated overall with encrusted silver foliage inhabited by reclining figures on each side of the double shell-guard and on one side of the pommel, and wooden grip bound with twisted iron wire (silver worn, one arm incomplete) (2)
