A Continental Momento Mori Dagger
19th Century

With sharply tapering double-edged blade (some light pitting) of flattened diamond section cut with two central fullers over most of its length on each side, cast and chased brass hilt comprising quillons each formed as a sinner's head grasped by a demon's claws and centred on a demon's face, and grip formed in the round as a mustachioed human figure grasping a shrouded figure of Death from behind, in original brass scabbard cast, pierced and chased along each side with a naked male human figure descending to Hell surrounded by demons, wolves and serpents (lining incomplete)
