A Rare German Judicial Mace
Probably Early 17th Century

Of blackened iron, the head formed as ten scrolled wrought-iron leaves between five stalked berries surmounted by a central spike with spiral wire binding, on slender haft of hexagonal section with central double moulding and ring-shaped jingle, and shagreen-covered grip between further mouldings en suite, the lower one with faceted bud-shaped terminal
59 cm.
