A Russian Dragoon Officer's 1881 Pattern Shashka Awarded For Bravery
Reign Of Nicholas II (1894-1917), Circa 1915

With curved nickel-plated blade fullered over most of its length along each side and etched with symmetrical designs of foliage against a matt ground over half its length on both sides at the forte, regulation gilt-brass hilt comprising knuckle-guard extending to form a downcurved ring quillon and engraved 'For Bravery' in Russian along each side, pommel with threaded ovoidal cap with applied red enamelled (minor damage) Order of St. Anne fourth class, diagonally ribbed ebonised grip, and sword-knot with St. Anne's strap, in original wood-lined scabbard covered in blackened leather with brass mounts and ring for suspension
