With slightly curved bright blade double-edged towards the point and etched along one side at the forte with maker's details, crowned 'VRI' cypher and scrolling foliage, and on the other with circular proof stamp within a star, royal arms and foliage, all against a matt ground, regulation gilt hilt comprising quillons cast on each side with foliage centred on a crowned 'VRI' cypher within a wreath of oak, and ivory grip-scales secured by two transverse pins each with gilt floret head on each side, and pommel with gilt-mounted piercing for a silver bullion and red cord sword-knot, in its original brass scabbard with two rings for suspension
