An Austrian Railway Official's Sword
Late 19th/Early 20th Century

With bright fullered single-edged blade, cast brass hilt comprising shell-guard with winged wheel within a border of trefoils, a winged helmet above, foliate rear quillon, forward quillon formed as two coiled snakes, foliate knuckle-guard, spherical pommel, and spirally twist grip, in its wooden scabbard covered in black leather with brass locket, chape and suspension mount decorated en suite with the hilt on the outside, the last with fixed ring for suspension
