With broad sharply tapering fullered blade (some light pitting overall) notched along the back and double-edged towards the point, one side etched with thistles, and the other etched with thistles enclosing a crest above indistinct retailer's details at the forte, swelling rootwood grip fluted on the inside above a thistle and carved with basketweave set with silver studs above a bonnet against cross swords on the other, silver mounts embossed and chased with thistles including pommel-cap set with a foiled piece of faceted glass in imitation of a cairngorm, in original wood-lined scabbard covered in black leather with locket, chape and mounts for by-knife and fork decorated with applied entwined Scottish thistle and English rose, the locket engraved with Scottish thistles enclosing the owner's coat-of-arms and motto, the by-knife and fork en suite with the dirk
