A Highly Decorative Indian Circular Steel Dhal Commemorating The Maharajas Of Udaipur

Of convex form, with four blued steel domed bosses and turned gold-damascened border, the former each damascened with gold foliage and set between a circular border of differing designs of chiselled gold-damascened foliage, and centred on a gold-damascened mustachioed Indian head in splendour within a circular border of gold-damascened running leaves, the outer border chiselled in low relief with twenty-two circular portrait medallions representing the Maharajahs of Udaipur, each labelled in Hindi and dated from 1537 to 1930, the remaining surface profusely chiselled in low relief with courtly scenes representing daily life in Rajastan including processions and hunting scenes, the interior with red velvet liner, pad and braces
