A Persian Circular Steel Dhal
Qajar, Late 19th Century

Of convex form with four silver-damascened domed bosses and an applied brass border, decorated overall with gold-damascened petalled cartouches each containing Persian verses, all against a ground of foliage inhabited by Persian demi-figures and birds, and centred on a large cartouche etched with Persian verses, the border with elongated panels containing further verses, and with a slender border of running arabesques above
47.5 cm. diam.
