An Indian Katar, An Arab Jambiya, And An Indian Axe-Head
18th/19th Century

The first with finely watered tapering double-edged blade reinforced at the point and with slender medial ridge along each side, characteristic hilt decorated with panels of gold-damascened foliage and comprising fluted side-bars and faceted grips each swelling and joined at the centre, in later leather-covered scabbard; the second with broad curved double-edged blade with medial ridge along each side, and waisted silver-covered hilt decorated with applied silver filigree on one side, in its wood-lined scabbard en suite with the hilt; the last of bullova type, with crescentic cutting-edge and inlaid with two vertical punched brass lines on each side at the rear, and integral socket inlaid with two horizontal brass lines en suite (some pitting overall) (3)
