Two Indian Pulouars
18th/19th Century

The first with curved single-edged blade (some pitting overall) inlaid on one side with a brass cartouche containing Arabic calligraphy, with brass inlaid amulet (beduh) above, and traces of a further engraved inscription along the back, steel hilt of characteristic form chiselled with raised vertical lines and pierced with arabesques on each ovoidal langet and around the hollow two-piece cup-shaped pommel, the latter containing jingles and with disc-shaped cap surmounted by a pierced swivel, swelling grip, and chiselled downbent stylised Makara-head quillons; the second of similar form, the hilt with roughly engraved decoration overall (2)
