The makers have kindly confirmed that the gun was completed in 1925 for Admiral Ernest Gillibe Barton (1861-1938)

Britannia, and later served with the Nile Flotila for the relief of General Gordon (1884-85). An officer of the 'Dreadnought' era, he was promoted to Rear-Admiral in 1915 and retired a year later, but remained on the retired list and attained the rank of full Admiral in 1924. He married twice, firstly in 1889 to Samina Maria Burns (died 1914), and in 1925 to Marjorie Rochfort-Boyd
