Footnotes

Greenville Collins's Great Britain's Coasting Pilot was the first systematic survey of British coastal waters and the first marine atlas engraved and printed in London from original surveys. The survey was carried out between 1681 to 1688, beginning with the south coast, and covered all the British coasts except for western Ireland and western Scotland. This copy is as Shirley M.Coll-1a, but without the Coast off Warporth Castle and the two English Channel charts, but with the additions cited in M.COLL-1b, 1c, 1d and 1f (excluding the Humber chart in 1c and the Arundel chart in 1d).
